2013 – Hello, the goods arrived safely. Thanks for the souvenir. I’ve been to the Czech Republic twice, which I love. I visited the Škoda Museum before its renovation and now want to return again. My mother was in Karlovy Vary for treatment in 1976. She loved your country. Since childhood, I’ve had memories of the Czech Republic — and I’ve always loved Škoda. 2013
I love Škoda. Since childhood, I’ve been riding in Skodas. My grandfather had an Octavia Combi 1964 – we still have it, under restoration. In our family, we’ve bought several Škodas. I have two Octavias, a Felicia cabriolet, a Roomster, and a Superb. With my cousin John Bagão, we run the largest blog about vintage Škodas in Portugal. We love exchanging opinions and are deeply in love with the Škoda brand. Our dream is to visit the factory and museum in the Czech Republic.
I love SKODA. Since childhood, I’ve been surrounded by Skodas. My grandfather had a 1964 Octavia Combi – I still have it, currently under restoration. In our family, we’ve owned several Skodas. I have two Octavias, a Felicia cabriolet, a Roomster, and a Superb. Together with my cousin John Bagão, we created the largest blog about vintage Skodas in Portugal. We love exchanging ideas with other Skoda fans. Our dream is to visit the factory and museum in the Czech Republic.
+ ŠKODA Octavia Combi 3/2014. Thank you – I am now restoring a Škoda Octavia Kombi that belonged to my grandfather. I am glad that PRAGOS exists to help us with the restoration of Škodas. In Portugal, there is nothing!
Thank you. I'm riding the Škoda Octavia Kombi that was my grandfather’s, and I noticed the springs match. Glad that there is PRAGOS to help us in the restoration of Škodas. In Portugal there is nothing!
Mr. Petri Korhonen, Kuopio, Finland – A few photos of my old Octavias. The 1959 model is still fully drivable and I use it in summer.
Continuation – The Octavia Combi appeared by chance when I was at a farm near Kuopio for spare parts for the 1962 model :-)
Dr. Ján Hudoba, Sliač, Slovakia – ŠKODA Octavia. Good day, Mr. Vaněček, I’d like to share with you my joy, which you helped me achieve. I’m sending you a photo from the historical vehicle inspection I attended today (October 22, 2011). Thank you and have a nice day. Best regards, Ján Hudoba, Sliač.
Mileage 60,000 km. It stopped being used in 1988 and sat in a damp garage. In 2007, it had to be renovated — successfully completed in 2011. I’m sending photos as thanks to you and your online store, whose parts helped me accomplish this good deed.
Thanks to the Octavia, I’m transported in memories to a beautiful period of my life in the 1960s, exactly as you describe on these pages yourself.
With respectful greetings and wishes for happiness in your personal life and success in your exceptional work.
Dear Mr. Hudoba, thank you for your wishes and we also wish you all the best in life and inspiring times behind the wheel of this beautifully restored car! – V. Vaněček
Photo of the SK Route 66 center in Lopej near Banská Bystrica, which connects the border crossing of Šahy with Hungary and Lysá Poľana – High Tatras with Poland. Popular among motorcyclists; we drove it in vintage cars — a beautiful natural scenery.
I’m sending a photo of our family Octavias, probably from 1975. In the foreground is the one we restored; in the background, our parents’ Octavia, which was sold in 1984 and converted into a small tractor by the new owner. With respectful greetings, Ján Hudoba, Sliač.
1966–1967 – in my grandfather’s yard in the village of Ozdín, then in the Lučenec district (today Poltár). He was the owner of the car at the time. The young lady by the car was visiting neighbors for the holidays, and besides the Octavia, she was also interested in my uncle. Unfortunately, he died during his university studies in 1969. I never met the girl again. Today, she’s probably a grandmother.

Parking lot Zvolen – vehicle of our colleague, ŠKODA prototype. Reportedly designed by GUCCI, Italy. Built in 1971 in three units; serial production was canceled. Production was planned for the former BAZ Bratislava.
Karel Mrázek, Nová Role – ŠKODA Octavia 1959, car “Květa”. Greetings, I finally painted the wheels, added new tubes, but mainly those trims from you. The look has improved a lot.
Continuation – now it’s time for the bumpers. I’ll try to find older ones but with great chrome. Best wishes, Mrázek from Mezirolí.
Since 4/2007 I’ve been the second owner. The car is in fairly good, original, and complete condition from 1959.
I also have the user manual and parts book that came with the car, as well as the original tire pressure gauge, etc.
It’s a pity the car isn’t in its original paint – during the socialist era, original color wasn’t available when repairing the sills.
The color used was simply what was available at the time. Currently, the toy car is undergoing cosmetic repainting.
Thank you for including our Květa on your website. Have a nice day and thanks for everything. Mrázek

Mr. Matti J. Tarvainen, Finland – ŠKODA Octavia. “Ahoj! I am the Finnish man who went shopping for Parabola and other spare parts. This by sending a few pictures of cars. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Best regards, Matti.”
Hello, I was personally in Prague from Finland buying spare parts. Sending a few car photos. Regards, Matti.
Jiří Brož, Prague 4 – ŠKODA Octavia 1961. It left the Mladá Boleslav factory on December 19, 1961, in dark blue color. This date is listed in the registration papers and confirmed by the automaker. Nevertheless, both the ID plate and registration state 1962 as the year of manufacture. Probably, since the factory already met its 1961 production quota, part of the December batch was marked as 1962. It was sold to its first owner on January 3, 1962, in Nymburk.
It stayed in Nymburk for 6 years and was later sold to Kutná Hora. With the new owner, it went twice on vacation to then-Yugoslavia. Its condition gradually worsened due to corrosion until it lost its technical certificate in 2002. By then, it was mostly sitting in a shed. In 2002, the front fenders and floor were replaced and it received a new paint job using original spare parts. After the repair, it was painted light red. In this condition, I acquired it – it had 125,350 km on the odometer with original mechanics. Since the engine was already consuming oil, smoking, and hard to start, I did a full overhaul. It received valves from the Škoda 1203, making it capable of running on unleaded fuel. Otherwise, the gearbox, differential, and front axle are still original. The differential starts to be noisy at 80 km/h – a classic “Škoda illness.” Tires are Firestone 155-14 radial tubeless, as the rims were already designed for this type. They have factory-welded balancing wires, so the wheels only have small weights. The odometer shows 126,478 km. In 2015, it got new upholstery since the driver’s seat was sagging.
An interesting fact about this car is the year of manufacture 1962 (on the plate and in documents), but it was sold on December 23, 1961. It was named Doctor.
After shampooing, the interior looks like new.
Sending a photo of my Octavia Super, which I’m very fond of.

Original paint – a bit faded, but beautiful in its authenticity. Sold in 2006.
Hello Mr. Vaněček, I’m sending you some information about my machines along with photo documentation. Unfortunately, I forgot earlier, so I’m writing just now.
First ŠKODA Octavia – manufactured November 1961 (985). It has an incredible 200,000 km and everything is original. Engine and gearbox work flawlessly, I only repaired the brake linings.
The original owner lived one street away and could no longer drive. The interior is also perfect – seats undamaged, protected by covers for years. The weakest spots are the trunk floor and the wheel arches and sills.
Unfortunately, the paint isn’t original – repainted light blue in 1976. The original color was ivory. I’ve been the second owner for three years, and the car hasn’t moved far.
So far, so good. In this case, a full restoration is already necessary, but there’s neither time nor money for it yet. Hopefully soon.
Tomáš Janda, Prague – ŠKODA Octavia Combi 1967. Condition at purchase 3/2008, restoration started immediately.
Status as of 5/2008 – body filler and sanding work begun. Materials used: BODY CAR spray filler 980 (primer) and putty 211 (for larger imperfections).
Condition as of 5/2008 – during a long weekend, the car was repainted. Two-tone combination RAL 5017 (ŠKODA blue) and RAL 5022 used.

Mr. Atila Balog, Novi Sad, Serbia – ŠKODA Octavia Combi 1965, 95,000 km. “Best regards from Balog Atila and oldtimer club ‘Veteran’ Novi Sad – Serbia.” Daily driven car. Restoration: 2002.
From the 12th Oldtimer Meeting in Novi Sad, 26.08.2006 – my red Škoda and two Felicia guests from Hungary.
As you know, I am a Škoda Octavia fanatic and drive my red Octavia almost every day. I am 33 years old and live in Novi Sad.
(Sremska Kamenica, 3 km from Novi Sad). We have an oldtimer organization called Auto Moto Klub "Veteran – Novi Sad". The club has existed since 1989 and has organized 12 oldtimer meetings in Novi Sad. I am currently the new president of the club.
8. Tomos APN4 1977 (everyday moped)
9. Two pre-war bicycles: Vaterland and NSU.
As you know, my love is Octavia and I want to sell other cars. I have some spare parts, new and used, and keep them. Of course, I always need something else.
A few things I bought on German eBay, but I have problems with payment from Serbia. Story about my Red Škoda: the first owner was an old Slovak butcher named Petras Miroslav. In 1982, he had a small accident on the left door and got scared, so he never drove the car again, but kept it jealously.
After his death in 1996, the car was bought by Almasi Oskar (Hungary), who started restoration, but the engine was blocked, so he only partially disassembled it. In 2002 I bought my love and restored my Škoda to superb condition.
At that time, the Škoda had only 66,060 km. I have attended many oldtimer meetings in Serbia, Hungary, and Bosnia.
Best regards, Balog Atila.
I have a few cars and motorcycles:

Hello Václav, I’m sending you a picture from the oldtimer meeting in Zrenjanin – Serbia 2010. Best regards, Balog Atila from Novi Sad (my Škoda is still OK).
It is in its original condition including tires, has 77,777 km. Fully drivable and with a new technical inspection.
Pavel Kojan, Třeboň – ŠKODA Octavia Super 1964. Complete restoration carried out in 2000, since then it has changed hands about twice.
Last year, May 2008, I bought it in Varnsdorf, and my first drive was overnight from Varnsdorf home. It drove about 312 km without any problems.
The photos show preparations for the South Bohemian christening of our daughter Pavlínka. Warm greetings from Třeboň, Pavel Kojan.
Was in operation until the end, manufactured in 1969 (last type with Škoda 100 headlights). I’m now restoring it; I’m a member of the Veteran Tatra Club Bystřice nad Pernštejnem.

Year 2012 – Greetings from a visit to the ŠKODA Museum Mladá Boleslav.
Hi Vaclav, the package is received. Thank you.
A few pictures from my visit in Mladá Boleslav this summer.
Best regards, Stephan.
8/2010 – Hello Vaclav, my Octavia is ready. Here are some images in a new format; the last ones were very large. Thank you for the good cooperation!
Best regards from Schönebeck!
Stephan.
Hello Stephan,
Thank you, it’s truly a very nice restoration! Thanks & ahoj from Prague to Schönebeck!
Vaclav.
Jan Michal, Kozlov – Tractor. I am not the author of the conversion; I bought it in this condition and only fine-tuned it slightly. The entire chassis from a ŠKODA Octavia Combi was used as the base for a small truck. The central tube and driveshaft were shortened, and an additional gearbox from a Moskvich was installed behind the original one.

Veľké Uherce, Slovakia ŠKODA Octavia - 1961
Already the new finned model from the factory. My father became the owner in the 1970s (as the 3rd owner). The car was completely welded, repainted, and had a general engine overhaul. It’s not in its original state – my father converted the gear shift to the floor and replaced the exhaust with one from a Lada (since the original wasn’t available at the time). The car is used on weekends as a normal car but receives special care compared to other vehicles in the family.

Purchased in 2014 in preserved condition, manufactured in 1963 at the Škoda Kvasiny plant. From the first owner, driven 167,000 km.
Jiří Mizera, Liberec – ŠKODA Octavia 1959. Our car is named Vendula, and in one photo, she’s pictured with our son Honzík.
Mr. Arkadiusz Widelski, Lublin, Poland – ŠKODA Octavia Super 1960. 2014 – We are Škoda fans! We visited the factory and museum in Mladá Boleslav with this Octavia, driving 900 km there and back. The Octavia returned without any damage! Just fuel and 2 liters of oil :-) Average consumption 6.4 l/100 km, 3 people, lots of luggage and spare parts.
We are Škoda fans! We have visited the factory and the museum in Mladá Boleslav with this Octavia – 900 km each way. Octavia came back without any damage! Only petrol and 2 litres of engine oil :-) Average consumption 6.4 l/100 km, 3 persons and lots of luggage and spare parts.
Thank you for the amazing photos and documentation of such a great and important day. We join the well-wishers and wish the newlyweds a beautiful, rich, and extraordinary journey — not only with this vintage car we’ve been part of since the start of its restoration, but also through life. May it go smoothly!
ŠKODA Octavia 1962 – Its story is just beginning. I bought it last week and am now assessing what repairs it will need. The body has seen better days, as has the chassis :-) The engine runs and drives surprisingly well. The body will have to come off the frame to get everything into usable condition. Probably replacement of sills and repair of the lower trunk section. The car has a tow hitch, and the mounting area is not what it used to be :-)
The gearbox lid and shift levers were missing. Now it shifts properly and this part of the car seems fine. The brakes are surprisingly in good condition. A lot of work still awaits me, and I’m glad you run these pages and the store. Best regards, Václav Dolejší.
Martin Kročák, Dubné – ŠKODA Octavia Super. 2013 – I worked on it for 2 years, completely disassembled it. I hope you like the result and that it won’t be an embarrassment on your website. Thank you for the parts I bought from you – they helped me a lot. Regards, Martin Kročák.
“We also thank you for the beautiful photos, wonderful work... Regards, Vaněček – PRAGOS.”
Miloš Trnka, Kuřim – ŠKODA Octavia. I inherited the Octavia from my grandfather. My father also drove it, and by the late 1980s, when my parents wanted to sell it, we agreed that I would repair it and keep it. It had driven over 400,000 km, so I bought another one without papers for spare parts. That one had 100,000 km but a bad body. I swapped the axles, gearbox, and other parts onto our original car. The restoration took me several years.
Mr. Tuomo Brelo, Ahmovaara, Finland – ŠKODA Octavia Combi. 2013 – in one year I drove 6000 km, both in summer and winter at -33 °C.
I also have an old fire truck from 1962. I converted it to a nine-seater with a table, etc. A very funny vehicle – I haven’t seen anything like it in Finland!
Ing. Dalibor Válek, Ostrava-Poruba – ŠKODA Octavia Combi 1965. 2013 – I bought it recently after a long search. Preparing for a full restoration. Without your store, I couldn’t have found the parts so easily. The only issue now is with the tires.
Plamen Vasilev
Razgrad, Bulgaria ŠKODA Octavia
I hope for future cooperation to preserve this treasure from the past in great condition, so that everyone around it can be happy.
Peter Kovář, Slovakia – ŠKODA Octavia Super 1962. You have a great website about old Škodas. I found a lot of interesting reading here. I’m sending you a photo of my Octavia Super, which I truly cherish. www.octavia.super.szm.sk
Milan Anděl, near Kolín – 2013. I’d like to send you a few photos of the renovation of my old Octavia. The car has been completely welded, and I’m now applying filler and sanding — probably the worst job I know :-) In about a week, the whole body will go into spray filler.
The car was imported from former East Germany, where the previous owner really “left his mark.” The doors wouldn’t close, there were no gaps between fenders and sills, everything was warped from oxyacetylene repairs, and the body was brush-painted in metallic. Finally, at a scrapyard in Germany, they lifted the car with a strap around the roof, which caused dents in the roof edges and door frames.
Mr. Gabor Nagy, Budapest, Hungary – ŠKODA Octavia. 2012 – I’m sending a few photos of my restored Octavia; it’s not completely finished yet. In the photo are my Octavia, a Karmann Ghia 14, and a not-so-handsome man :-) Greetings, Gabor.
“I send some photos from my Octavia to your international gallery. It is not ready yet, but I have some pictures about the restoration of the car. On the last picture, the not very nice man, that’s me with my Octavia and Typ 14 Karmann Ghia. Best regards, Gabor.”
Revolutionary oil separator design. It’s functional, simple, and efficient. Greetings to all restorers.
Bought 10/2012. The restoration is already underway, and if finances and enthusiasm last, I hope to finish it. Best regards, Vladimír Klein.
Mr. Petr Michalek, Scandiano, Italy – 2014. “Ahoy Vaclav, thank you for the cooperation. The restoration is almost finished, I’m promoting you here in Italy, people are starting to like Škoda.”
Ing. Jan Novotný, Polička – I’m sending the promised photos from a countryside trip along the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Route: Polička, Telecí, Pustá Rybná, Březiny, Milovy, Blatiny, Medlov, Krásné, Daňkovice, Spělkov, Podlesí, Telecí, Kateřinky, and back. It’s beautiful here. For trips with such cars and motorcycles – a landscape made for it. PS: The car is not a “showcase veteran” but perfect for a Sunday drive. Next year, I plan to refurbish the wheels, install new tires, add trim rings under the hubcaps, and replace the grille with the original 1963 model + swap the front hood (it doesn’t fit). That should be enough to properly annoy my wife. :o)
Year 2012. PS: The car is not a “museum veteran”, but good enough for Sunday drives. Next year I plan to refurbish the wheels, new tires, trim rings under hubcaps, and replace the grille and hood with 1963 originals.
Good day, Mr. Engineer, I’d like to send photos of my Octavia before and after restoration. The car was restored mostly from your parts. Best regards, Jan Chocholatý.

Good day, we used to ride in it as children. Later, my father had the chance to buy a new car, around 1981–82. The new Škoda 120 was faster but disappointed me with its interior noise — it even had an exemption from the regulation! And the heating in winter was terrible — it took several kilometers to start warming up. So we missed the Octavia for a while. About the Š120 purchase: the Favorit was far off, my father wanted a new car badly, and the Zhiguli didn’t appeal to him, mainly due to fuel consumption — it was communism, and every crown counted.

Sending a photo of the Octavia I recently bought and began restoring. The car is from the first owner, who took good care of it, but early signs of corrosion have appeared. I’m just at the beginning, and a lot of work awaits me before I can fine-tune the car to my liking. 2011.

Teplice ŠKODA Octavia Super - 1962
I bought this beauty a month ago, non-running and with minor fire damage under the hood. It will need a few parts and a new coat, but it already brings us joy. Greetings to all fans of the brand. Vašek T.
Hello Mr. Vaněček, I’d like to send you a few photos of the almost completed restoration of my vintage car. All that remains are wheel alignment, emissions, technical inspection, and picking up the license plates from deposit. Thank you for helping us enthusiasts and dreamers fulfill our dreams. Without you, it would all be much more difficult. Believe me, as I look through the dozens, perhaps hundreds of photos from the restoration process, remembering the hundreds of hours spent in the workshop, and finally seeing that it was all worth it, I truly have tears in my eyes. I believe you too must feel the warmth of knowing you helped save another classic that was so close to being scrapped.
Best regards, Ing. Lumír Pavlásek.
Dear Mr. Pavlásek, we sincerely thank you for your kind words and appreciation. I completely understand (I have these emotions too — and thank you for them...) and it’s an honor for us to contribute to the lasting values being created this way. That’s what life should be about. Congratulations. Thank you and best regards, V. Vaněček.
From the ŠKODA factory archive, I ordered a commemorative certificate of origin for my vintage car (on beautiful paper – date of production, when it left the line, etc.). It’s not exactly cheap, but fine. What disappointed me a little was that the certificate lacked any official stamp of the Mladá Boleslav archive! Only a signature. Surely you’ll agree that without the institution’s stamp, it somehow doesn’t feel complete. Later, I found out why there was no stamp – the ŠKODA owners reportedly forbade it. Overall, they say the archive’s activities aren’t supported, and it’s uncertain whether it will even continue to exist in the future. I’m still saddened by it today. The history of our Czech carmaker apparently doesn’t interest its current owners much.
Dear Mr. Pavlásek, yes, this is the reality of Czech privatization and the looting of national assets – the values built over centuries. Some Czechs are proud assemblers for Koreans and Germans! As someone once wrote: “Mr. Klement must be turning in his grave, for he founded the company as a defiance against the Sudeten firm Seidl and Neumann…”
V. Vaněček
Our vintage car’s restoration at its very beginning – it’s an Octavia Combi from 1966, purchased by my father when I was six. It helped me build my house and served reliably until 1997. Then it stood unused in a damp garage until this year, which certainly didn’t help its condition.
It’s not deregistered, just has its plates in storage. This year, under pressure from my sons, I finally decided on a full restoration. I can’t imagine parting with it – with my parents, I went to the sea in East Germany, the former Yugoslavia, twice to Bulgaria, and it never let us down.
Surely you understand this is a matter of the heart. I really appreciate your website; it helps us amateur restorers a lot.
Many, many hours of work, still improving.
And many, many working hours – it will be better and better.
I got Olouška like this: In 2008, I received a phone call from a lady asking if I knew someone interested in an old Octavia. She said she wanted to sell it because from January 2009, a 10,000 CZK eco-tax would have to be paid.
(At that time I was restoring a Simca Cinq (licensed Fiat 500A Topolino) and the end was nowhere in sight. So I referred the lady to online ads, etc. Later my wife said, if it’s drivable, wouldn’t it be better to buy the car and sell the Topolino.)
We went to Děčín to have a look at it. It had stood in a garage for almost 10 years after the owner’s death – the old lady’s husband. The price was very low, almost laughable compared to today’s market. The car wasn’t drivable, but it only needed a brake and fuel system renovation. There weren’t many amateur modifications, so I replaced everything with period-correct original parts (model 61). I’ve been driving it for the fourth season now.
The money from selling the Topolino was enough to buy a Škoda 1000 MB Series II from 1964. We went to Beroun for it in June 2009, and we’ve been fine-tuning it ever since – mainly cosmetically, as we mostly drive it.

Sezimovo Ústí ŠKODA Octavia Combi - 1969
I got the car from my aunt. I had to dig it out from a partially collapsed barn. After successfully pulling it out, I found it had only 460 km! Unfortunately, mice had moved in, so I had to redo all the upholstery. The car was covered with blankets that left stains on the paint, so the paint is also new. The bodywork remained original. At first, I drove on the original tires, but I eventually had to replace them — they weren’t worn out but had cracked. After these fixes, I passed inspection, registered it, and started driving. I have all the documents — large registration book, invoice from Mototechna, shipping note, and warranty inspection vouchers. They’d be surprised in Mladá Boleslav if I booked a service now :-) The little car drives like a dream and already has 4000 km. I’m looking forward to further cooperation. Best regards, Luděk Bartoš.

Hooray, hooray! On September 27, 2016, I managed to get the Octavia registered. I did two test drives: 10 km and 52 km, everything was fine. I had to handle all the upholstery (red covers from my parents – just washed), puttying, painting and polishing, underbody coating, etc. It was tough. Thank you for your support with parts, advice during reconstruction, and great moral support. After eight years of struggle, I can now enjoy it. Looking forward to further cooperation!

I bought the Octavia from Tasmania, where I accidentally found it for sale. It’s in very good condition and drivable, the steering wheel is on the right side and the gear shift is on the floor. As far as I know, it’s probably the only one in Western Australia, if not in all of Australia.

This is my car. 90% is original – only the carpet and seats were changed, everything else in good condition.

Pustějov ŠKODA Octavia - 1960
2015 – I’m sending a few photos of our beauty. Our Octavia “Hanička” is going for a full repair – new paint (original color), newly chromed bumpers, and everything else needed. I have it from my father, who inherited it from his father. My grandfather bought it by chance – it was meant for export, but due to a bubble on the roof, it was returned. I have a ten-year-old son who is thrilled with Hanička. My wife shares the same passion – she bought me a Combi so I could replace the front axle on Hanička, which I did. We are glad there are so many people with the same passion. The registration lists three owners – grandfather, father, me – and one day also my son. Best regards, the Švarc family.

2014 – Finally finished. Complete body restoration. Engine, gearbox, and differential are original.
Michal Novák ŠKODA Octavia
In original condition – front fenders replaced and repainted 30 years ago. The car stood unused for 20 years, and I’m the second owner. It still has its original license plates and historic certification. I’m not planning a full restoration — it would be a pity. I’ll just add missing accessories (decorative trim, rubber seals, etc.). This is our first historic car — and it probably won’t stay the only one :-)

Nový Hrádek ŠKODA Octavia – 1962
2016 – I’m sending several photos of my car. The ŠKODA Octavia 1962 was purchased in Prague in 2010 and transported on a trailer to my workshop. Repairs are still ongoing. I’m working on the car myself; only the bodywork was done by a professional – a friend. The car has regular registration plates (currently stored at the office), and the ecological fee is paid. Since I only have time on weekends, progress is slow. Thank you for the excellent store that makes buying classic car parts so easy. You guys are great!
2016 – restored front axle.
I’m adding two photos – one shows the restored front axle, the other the removal of the engine from the car. I’m currently working on the engine. I’m repairing the car gradually, as I don’t have space to separate the body, chassis, and engine with transmission all at once. The car stands on supports at the front, without the axle, engine, or transmission. The rear part already stands on wheels.

ŠKODA Octavia – 1961
1961 – production, 1st owner?, engine 1089 cc / 40 hp
1965 – imported from abroad, country of origin not stated, 2nd owner from Jablonec nad Nisou
1973 – engine replaced with Octavia Combi 1221 cc / 47 hp
1976 – 3rd owner from Zásada, likely thanks to him the car survived – a logbook kept from 1976 to 2008 recording all repairs, lubrication, play adjustments, headlight alignment, toe-in, etc.
2008 – 4th owner from Kopidlno received the car as a reward for work on another vehicle, stored in a barn, occasionally driven
2016 – 5th owner from Mladá Boleslav – me :) 151,000 km. I’m removing layers of filler from dents, getting rid of non-original parts, changing oils, fluids, filters, and other maintenance items. The car runs under its own power and is in very good mechanical condition. I’m trying to preserve the original paint – under two new layers, the original is emerging. The vision of 3/4 of the original paint makes the effort worthwhile. The rear panel with sub-bumper and right rear fender are the worst, as well as the trunk floor, which is already under repair. The engine bay is thankfully fine and painted beige, the underside of the floor and wheel arches coated with silver Tlumex.

2016 – Photo of my Octavia from the previous year’s trip to Slovenský ráj – photos are from the German military cemetery under the Tatras and from Liptovský Hrádok. Currently under repair to ensure it can once again make it safely to eastern Slovakia :-)

ŠKODA Octavia – 1961
2015 – I bought the car in 2004 as drivable but in poor technical condition. I’m the 5th owner. Year of manufacture: 1961. The body was replaced in 1968, probably after an accident. Over time, I carried out a full repair and repainted it five years ago. It’s not a professional restoration but an honest one. We used the car for our wedding and honeymoon. I’m gradually replacing worn parts and thank you for your store and fast deliveries.

ŠKODA Octavia – 1962
2015 – Thank you for your helpfulness when buying parts. I’ve owned the car for 16 years; it was originally intended to be scrapped. I saved it and assembled it from two cars. Originally blue, then black, green, and now red. It’s not an original shade, but I like it. Her name is Kristýna, and after years I’m finishing the chassis so she can be comfortably driven again.

ŠKODA Octavia – 1962
I’m sending a few photos of my 1962 Octavia, which I received from my grandfather in 1984. My father and I did the first major overhaul in 1985. From 1993 it stood in a barn. In spring 2014 I started repairing it again and completed the second overhaul in January 2017 using your parts from the online store.

Briefly about our vintage car – Octavia Combi 1970, we’ve been the second owners since 1989. In 1993 it had a non-fault accident and after restoration returned to the roads in 2002. Since then, it has only brought us joy and pleasure.

ŠKODA Octavia – 1959
I’m attaching a photo of my 1959 Octavia. It was purchased in 1970 as a replacement for a Populár (1936/37?). In 1978 it was frontally crashed and permanently deregistered a year later. It remained in a garage the whole time. In 2011 I started collecting parts and slowly began restoring it.

ŠKODA Octavia – 1959
Dear friends from Pragos, thank you for the quick and high-quality handling of my orders. I’m sending a photo of my Škoda Octavia 985–1959 vintage car. Even though it was restored a long time ago, there’s always something to improve and repair, so I continue buying parts from Pragos. I restored the entire car myself, including upholstery. The restoration took four years. In the photos, the front indicator lenses are still incorrect. The car’s color matches those produced in 1958 for the Brussels Expo. Best regards, Zdeněk.
Petr Hak, Dvůr Králové nad Labem — Škoda Octavia. Today I was browsing through old emails and came across a promise I made to you — to send a few photos from the vintage car meet in Jičín, which I was able to attend thanks to your quick response to my requests. We attended the event with a friend who also owns an Octavia. Mine is beige, and his is green. I hope these few photos will make you happy.
Luděk Maděra, Zlín — Tractor. Regarding the picture of my vintage vehicle – it’s a bit unusual. The man I bought it from told me it was designed in Agrostroj Prostějov. Two prototypes were made, and discussions took place with the former East Germany about producing a diesel engine. In the end, the comrades decided that socialist fields would not be plowed with small tractors, and production was canceled. The designer reportedly “liberated” one of the prototypes and later sold it to the person I bought it from. So, it’s not a product of folk creativity. The engine, gearbox, master brake cylinders (two – one for each rear wheel), and brake drums come from an Octavia. It also has a secondary gearbox for slow plowing speeds and hydraulics for lifting and lowering the plow as well as tilting the trailer.
Věra Zdráhalová, Bohemia — Škoda Octavia. Our veteran before – May 2015, and after – March 2017. Best regards, Mr. and Mrs. Zdráhal.
František Mládek, Rosice — Škoda Octavia Combi, 1971. Interesting fact: the first owner was registered in the documents only in 1978; the car still has its original license plates.
Jan Sedláček, Plzeň — Škoda Octavia. Two photos from trips with the Octavia. This year it’s heading to Slovakia; later I’ll share more photos and stories.
Peter Ščepka, Slovakia — Škoda Octavia Super. Sending a few photos, though I have a lot going on. The vehicle was completely disassembled.
Jan Uher, Prague — Škoda Octavia. So far, I’ve only purchased the car, transported it home, and taken it for a first drive. I won’t have much time for it this year. The Octavia belonged to an older gentleman for many years, who kept it garaged, changed the color from gray-blue to red, and added a lot of non-original accessories. Later, another owner began restoring it (floor and brakes), buying parts from your store. I’d like to test it this year and start a more thorough renovation next year. I plan to restore the original color and return the car to “factory settings.”
Radek Zoňa, Klučov — Škoda Octavia. My friend and I bought it five years ago, combining two hobbies – classic cars and music. We’re gradually improving it, but for now, just keeping it running. :-)
Jan Drbohlav, Bradlec — Škoda Octavia, 1960. Our Octavia, which according to its registration papers probably spent its first four years directly at Škoda after its production in 1960, since it was first registered only in July 1964, was acquired from its third owner – a well-known Prague orthopedist and family friend – in 2015, after two years of persuasion that this dusty beauty didn’t belong forgotten in a shed at his cottage. And so, word by word, restoration began – started by the doctor himself. The first owner was a model maker from Prague who bought it in 1964. The second, a year later, was also from Prague, a career soldier born in 1914, who drove it until his death in 2003. Afterwards, the Octavia rested for six years in a dark garage until the doctor began its rescue, which we continued in 2015. I hope the hundreds of hours spent in the workshop are visible on the car. When you spend that much time with something, it becomes part of the family. And what makes it special? How many everyday items made 59 years ago still work and meet today’s needs? Probably not many – and our brown Octavia is one of the few that did. That’s real endurance and a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of Škoda workers across generations.
Lubomír Hájek, Zlín — Small tractor. Not a vintage car, but a homemade tractor built from Octavia parts. The engine still runs like a charm after all these years. There were some issues with the brakes, but thanks to you, they’ll be fixed, and I hope it will serve for many more years. :-)
Lubomír Hájek, Zlín — Small Tractor. The tractor was built by my father-in-law with his cousin; it’s been serving for over 35 years and, thanks to you, will hopefully continue to do so. We mostly use it for hauling wood from the forest. According to the inclinometer (land meter), it handles forest slopes of 35–40% with iron wheels (without a trailer). The toolbox doesn’t contain much — it doesn’t need to: a few wrenches, screwdriver, pliers, wire, and spark plugs. It’s never let me down — and when it did, the toolbox was enough to fix it. ;-)
Robert Eminger, Ústí nad Labem — Škoda Octavia Super, 1963. Hello, I’m sending a few photos of my Octavia. The car is shown as we pushed it out of the garage with the previous owner. It’s an Octavia Super, year 1963. I’m the fourth owner. The car has valid documents and the original period license plate (UL--) stored in deposit. Currently, it’s being repaired to a drivable condition, self-restored as time and finances allow. The car already has its third engine (water replacement after 15 years). Some body parts were replaced in the past, so corrosion is minimal, only surface rust on the underside. The car has been repainted, unfortunately not very well and in a lighter shade (cherry red), while the original color was dark cherry red – Jawa. I’m not planning a full restoration yet; I’d like to repair and polish the cracked paint and replace some components appropriate for the year (bumper tears, upholstery – I have from a Combi) and move the gearshift back under the steering wheel. Most of the spare parts come from your store, for which I sincerely thank you. Best regards, Robert Eminger.
Pavel Konrád, Libáň — Škoda Octavia, 1961. Sending a photo of my Octavia, which was assembled in Belgium but sold in Czechoslovakia. I am the second owner and restoring it to its original condition.
Zdeněk Bublik, Poříčí nad Sázavou — Škoda Octavia. Good day, thank you for processing my order. Sending photos of my Octavia – runs great thanks to Pragos.
Róbert Malik, Žilina, Slovakia — Škoda Octavia. Thanks again for your willingness and I’m looking forward to the parts. I appreciate it. Also attaching photos showing how I managed to save my grandfather’s car thanks to you.
Ladislav Vykouk, Klášterec nad Ohří — Škoda Octavia. I bought my Octavia last August. I had a VAZ 2101, but I liked the shape of the Octavia, so I decided to replace the Lada. I went to Hradec Králové for the car, and the trip back went perfectly smoothly. I drive the Octavia when the weather is nice, on trips, and sometimes I could use another hand to wave back at passing cars. The only slight problem is my thirteen-year-old daughter, who’s embarrassed to ride in it. But hopefully, she’ll understand in time that driving an old car is pure joy. That’s probably all I’d write about our Octavia. P.S. The car is going for renovation this September and should be ready by spring — I can’t wait. I’m just undecided about the paint color — either dark red or the original gray-blue.
Pavel Vývoda, Kopřivnice — Škoda Octavia, 1960. I own an Octavia 1960, serial number 457207, meaning the start of the 7th series. Registration is in deposit with new plates. Unfortunately, when re-registering from the OL region to MSK, I lost the original OL plates. I bought it in January 1993 from an old gentleman who came to a used car lot in Olomouc wanting to sell it to someone who would take good care of it. We agreed on 5000 CZK and since then it’s been mine – “on blocks” (at that time I was working in that car lot after graduating from university). It was drivable and had minimal rust. The gentleman made a few “improvements” such as installing divided leatherette seats or floor-mounted gear shifting, which I plan to revert. The front bench seat in my upholstery probably can’t be found anymore, so we’ll see. Occasionally, I remove, clean, paint, lubricate, and store parts, but the main work awaits – paint, chrome, engine. The fabric roof lining is fine but needs cleaning; I’ll see how it holds up during repainting. I admire your work and respect your expertise. I’m a car guy, but not a mechanic – I have an automotive high school degree from Bruntál and a university degree in motor vehicles from VUT Brno. I’ll try to do as much mechanical work myself. I want to preserve as many original parts as possible, even with patina – that’s fine. If I didn’t have a personal connection and technical background, I’d definitely have the chassis and engine restored by you. I really like your work – from the photos. But I want to “earn it” myself :-) I’m doing the car for my family and hope not only my wife and I but also my children and grandchildren will enjoy it. It’s not leaving the cottage. :-) Greetings from snowy Kopřivnice, Pavel Vývoda.
Michal Szöke, Handlová, Slovakia — Škoda Octavia. More photos are on the website www.otac.sk. Thank you, best regards, Michal Szöke, Oldtimer Autoclub Slovakia.
Zdislav Bradáč, Nový Bor — Škoda Octavia, 1959. Attached is a photo of my Škoda Octavia 985, year 1959. I’ve owned the vehicle for 27 years, and it was my first car (the two Roma men who owned it for two months before abandoning it at a scrapyard in Stružnice, where I bought it, don’t count). Since 1997, it’s driven about 750 km, only in summer and dry conditions. The paint is 22 years old. I’m slowly improving and polishing it — thanks to your company, where I’ve found many parts and inspiration to perfect my car.
Libor Fiala — Škoda Octavia, 1961. Thank you, here are some photos of the car. Octavia, 1961, “original” condition, unrenovated, just maintained and still used as a “weekend car”.
Josef Hadač, Suchdol nad Lužnicí — Škoda Octavia, 1961. My father bought it when I was three years old, in 1961, and we still have it. All the best, thank you. We thank you too, greetings from PRAGOS.
Matthew Turnock, United Kingdom — Škoda Octavia Combi, 1962. Imported from the Czech Republic a few years ago. I’ve just bought it and it’s a bit shabby, but I hope to keep it on the road for many more years!
Jan Chleboun — Škoda Octavia, 1962. The original owner wanted to turn it into a garden tractor. That would have been a real pity. Greetings and thank you for your cooperation. You’re right, it would have been a shame — good thing you decided otherwise. Greetings and thanks from the PRAGOS team.
Pavel Víšek — Škoda Octavia. Photos of the car I spent a year and a half restoring. Pictures before and after the restoration. I did everything myself, even though I’m not a mechanic, electrician, or painter. It probably doesn’t match the quality of your veteran cars, but it’s in much better shape than when I bought it. Hats off – another beautiful piece saved.
Václav Rieger — Škoda Octavia Super, 1962. The story is that this Octavia is in relatively original condition. It has a strong patina that the owner wants to preserve, focusing only on functional repairs. Interestingly, it’s an import from Finland — so after 61 years, it has returned home. A project with his 94-year-old grandfather, who had the same car as his first one – a touching reunion and shared joy.
