Dashboards of Škoda 1200-1

Color Combinations

Due to great difficulties in finding colors and their combinations for vehicle renovation, I present here all photographs I have collected on this topic. No one was able to advise me, including the Škoda Museum in Mladá Boleslav, where I gradually contacted several restorers from the workshops and archive, but completely in vain. They referred me to a displayed vehicle, which is evidently not original.

The 1200 series vehicles featured a surprising range of color combinations, which mostly matched well with the body and upholstery.

Instrument panel rim – always the same color as the body
Instrument panel center – often gray-beige color (like the steering wheel, etc.) and in various other combinations. As can be seen from the photographs, the center was also painted with hammer finish paint.

Some instrument panels in these photographs obviously do not have original combinations...

Mr. Tomek.

Mr. Pivec – Slovenia.

Continuation.

My car before restoration – original condition. Later, I decided on a different, more pleasant body color and struggled for a long time choosing a new dashboard color combination.

Continuation.

My car after restoration. I could only deduce this combination; I’ve never seen a real one. The same goes for the seats – I couldn’t find the originals anywhere, not even in the MB museum, where they don’t worry much about authenticity.

For clarity – summary (incomplete).

The dashboard featured the logo of the final manufacturer – Kvasiny (here) or Vrchlabí (next to it). The chassis was always made in MB. Photo by Mr. Žufan.

Factory emblem Vrchlabí.
