Dr. Jiří W. Pollak, sc., Zürich, Switzerland — Škoda Felicia, 1961. Personal website, Škoda Oldtimer Club – D
Continuation — Dear Mr. Vaněček, thank you for the warm and friendly welcome at your company and for the generous package! Of course, I’ve already installed it, and tomorrow we’re heading to Munich with our little Felicia. I’m sending the promised photos from the “North Pole” – the Midnight Sun Marathon, 5500 km in 14 days. The photos are mostly from the Arctic Circle, at a station at the end of the world. Wishing you continued success — Jirka Pollak.
Sascha Blank, Bad Waldsee, Germany — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Imported from the Czech Republic in 2008 and restored 2008–2012.
George Pasti, Placerville, California, USA — Škoda Felicia, 1961. An American woman who worked in Prague in 1999 fell in love with the car so much that she bought two — from 1960 and 1961. In 2004, she brought them to Florida and attended classic car shows, winning several awards. Later, I found her cars at a swap meet — it was tempting to buy both, but in the end, I chose the 1961 model. Sadly, of the 15,000 Felicias produced, only about 10 are known to exist in the USA.
Continuation — Hello Vašek, thank you for the Felicia parts, everything arrived fine. Sending a photo from a classic car show – not a Felicia, but another engineering success. ?
Jon Boultinghouse, Houston, Texas, USA — thanks to Václav. I was in the Czech Republic and Prague – a beautiful country and city. I’d love to return. My car will soon be on display at a major car show in Houston (2012). — Jon.
Jim McGlynn, Little Compton, Rhode Island, USA — Škoda Felicia, 1961. I’d like to thank you for the new clutch kit. It was hard to find a mechanic willing to install it — most are afraid to work on an unfamiliar car, and a 1961 Škoda is a real rarity here. Eventually, I found a craftsman who loves challenges — in the past, he rode a 1947 Indian motorcycle across the entire USA, accompanied by a van full of spare parts. Thank you again for your help! — Jim.
Adriano Miranda, Portugal — Škoda Felicia, 2008. www.skoda-semlimites.blogspot.com
Continuation — 2013 – Hello, the goods arrived safely. Thanks for the souvenir! I’ve been to the Czech Republic twice and love it. I visited the Škoda Museum before its reconstruction, and now I want to return again. My mother was in Karlovy Vary for treatment in 1976 and loved your country. Since childhood, I’ve had beautiful memories of the Czech Republic — and of Škoda as well. (2013)
Thomas May, Germany — Škoda Felicia, 1960. After partial restoration in 2002. “In the last year I have changed the engine because the oil consumption was very high.”
Continuation — As promised, sending a few photos. After half a year of paperwork, I finally passed the technical inspection. ?
Continuation — Sending a short comment about the car. Engine capacity 1089 ccm, serial number 50128x. The body has a new paint job from the previous owner, the rest is original, so it’s waiting for further restoration (engine bay, chassis, interior…). I’m not convinced the engine is original (number doesn’t match registration papers).
Continuation — According to the Mladá Boleslav archive, it might be a spare part. I’m currently investigating whether it’s at least from a Felicia (serial no. 7 959 525, single carburetor, steel oil pan). I’d be disappointed if it were from an Octavia. Since I want to restore it as close to original as possible, I’ll probably remain your customer for quite some time. ?
Josef Novotný, Brandýs nad Labem — Škoda Felicia, 1961. 2012 – sending newer photos. I bought my beauty from a colleague’s son 23 years ago, around the time of the revolution. The license plates still have the old thin lettering. Thank you for your care for spare parts, and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. — J. Novotný.
Continuation — Dear Mr. Vaněček, thank you also for spreading positive energy. I’m trying to do the same — after all, we want to live, not just survive and complain! More details about my car: Škoda Felicia type 949/9, manufactured May 22, 1961. Body no. 10153, engine no. 519929, weight 420 kg, production series no. 10. An item of historical value. The photo here was taken before completion — for example, it’s still missing the sill trim from you.
Continuation — Lindau Classic, November 2006 — 7th place. Felda endured, I only boiled twice, it was very hot.
Baden Baden 2008 — Felda won an honorary beauty and elegance award. A beautiful event with 380 of the most gorgeous cars.
Lindau Classic 2010 — 3rd place in our category and 5th overall! Greetings from Lindau, Tomáš Kašpar.
Filming – Bavaria Studio, Munich — the gray-haired man in the photo is well-known German actor Peter Weck. Due to advertising restrictions, all Škoda logos had to be removed.
From right: Mr. Pollak (Switzerland), Mr. and Mrs. Holub (Germany, Karlsruhe) and Mr. Šírek (Prague, CZ).
Lindau Klasik 2011 — orientation rally, first day 260 km. A beautiful route around Lake Constance and a climb into the Austrian Alps. We placed 8th; we lost most points at time checks where it was necessary to pass exactly at the designated time.
Baden Baden 2011 — Four beautiful Felicias participated, and despite bad weather, the mood was great. We took home several trophies. — Tomáš Kašpar, Mirek Holub, and colleagues.
Lindau Klasik 2012 — greetings to Prague. This year we finished in eighth place, it was wonderful. The car ran perfectly, only the stopwatch failed — otherwise we would have won! ? — Tomáš Kašpar.
The Kašpar couple, Baden Baden 2013 — our Tatra took 3rd place in its category. 370 cars of all makes and ages competed.
Julien Biosca, Guilherand Granges, France — Škoda Felicia Super, 1963. My father was the first major Škoda dealer in France (since 1946). This Felicia was restored by my grandfather in 1991 in the oldest Škoda service center in France. My father passed away in 1998; he also owned an Octavia, a 1201, a 1101, and a taxi. One day, I will restore these cars too.
Continuation — The car was restored by my grandfather in 1991, in the oldest Škoda service in France. Since 1998, the care of the car has been mine.
Continuation — December 2012. “Hi Václav, thank you very much for your wishes. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a successful 2013. I’ve neglected work on the old Škoda, but the chassis with engine and gearbox is complete, and the car stands on its wheels. My friend is just finishing painting the body. Hopefully, it’ll drive again soon. Thanks for the lovely greeting.” — David Slater.
Peter Kovář, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia, 1959. Modified version: added fins, changed front grille, front seats from the “eRko”. www
Rudolf Čapek, Plzeň — Škoda Felicia, 1961. 1st series with fins, complete restoration finished in 2008. Every year I take the car to competitions.
Continuation — Škoda Octavia Combi, 1964. I’m now restoring an Octavia Combi, for which I bought window rubber profiles from you. Have a nice day and long live Škoda! — Michal Jaroš.
Continuation — Engine 1089 ccm, completely restored except for upholstery and roof (those will be done later).
Roberto Suess, Rodgau, Germany — Škoda Felicia, 1960. 2014 – current state of the body with incorrect trim (Derzeitiger Restaurationsstand mit falschen Zierleisten).
Continuation — Current visual state of the car, still unfinished (Derzeitiger Restaurationszustand).
Continuation — Original state of the car at the beginning of restoration (Ausgangszustand des S450).
Stanislav Špirko, Ľubica, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia, 1961. I bought the car in 2005. Start of reconstruction: 5/2009, end: 11/2010. Upholstery replaced: 5/2011.
Liudmil Deyanov, Sofia, Bulgaria — Škoda Felicia. Hallo Václav, this is my other car :) Kind regards, Liudmil (2012).
Martin Herynk, Tuřany — Sending our “Felduška” (before restoration). Though it looks flawless in the photo, there’s still plenty to redo.
Ralph Schmidt, Friedrichstadt, Germany — Škoda Felicia, 1962. 2014 – Hallo Václav, I’ve finished my Felicia now and would like to send you a few pictures. I hope you’re well and that you’ll enjoy them. Best regards from Ralph in North Frisia (Germany). Hello Ralph, thanks :-) Greetings from Prague! Ahoy Václav.
Petr and Jolana Butal, Hluboká nad Vltavou — The car has been in the family for 25 years. Year of manufacture 1959, equipped with two carburetors. In 2000, the car underwent a complete overhaul, and since then we’ve only been fine-tuning aesthetic details. Regards, Petr and Jolana Butal.
Jan Hudeček, Prague — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Sending a few photos of our Felicia, year 1960. It’s fully drivable, and I’m slowly restoring it to its original condition. Thank you for the spare parts and information. Friendly greetings to the whole team, Honza Hudeček.
Peter Ďurko, Trnava, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia Super, 1963. Exported to East Germany, later reimported to Czechoslovakia in 1968.
Škoda Felicia, 1961 — 2014, my new car is ready for racing. Hello Václav, my new rally-Felicia Super is ready for the race.
František Joun, Nová Ves — Škoda Felicia, 1960. 2014 – fine-tuning a restoration from earlier years.
Jiří Dvořák, Protivín — Škoda Felicia, 1961. 2014 – renovated in 1991. Since then, it has reliably taken us on trips and various vintage competitions. Some might not like the temporarily used seats, but they’re comfortable and don’t hurt our backs. Best regards, J. Dvořák.
Ivana Stavělová, Slatinky — Škoda Felicia, 1961. 2014 – completely disassembled, body repaired and repainted in a color matching the year of manufacture.
Miroslav Auxt, Hronec, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia Super, 1963. 2015 – First drive! An unforgettable feeling, even though it’s still incomplete. Everyone who restored a vehicle knows what that feels like. :)
Continuation — Greetings to PRAGOS and Mr. Vaněček for not giving up on old machines and allowing us all to restore vintage cars to factory condition. Long live classics! Miro from Hronec. Thank you, Miro, and we look forward to more contact! Václav Vaněček – PRAGOS.
Miroslav Šoustek — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Photo of our Felicia, which I inherited from my father and which still runs on its original 1960 plates.
Jiří Zahrádka, Sobotka — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Car after the first owner, in original condition (except for the paint). Now fine-tuning details; the car had been standing for a long time.
Ralf Hellwig, Dortmund, Germany — Škoda Felicia Super, 1964. Chassis for Škoda Felicia Super type 996, engine no. 691468, body no. 691468. Manufactured May 16, 1964, shipped from AZNP Mladá Boleslav to AZNP Kvasiny on May 18, 1964 for final assembly. Restoration took place from February 2009 to August 2009. Wedding August 29, 2009 – Felicia served as the wedding car.
Alois Krejčí — Škoda Felicia. I’ve been restoring this car for four years now, buying most of the parts from you. The photo is titled “First Lighting”. Hopefully, it will hit the road this year. (2016)
Dušan Kotrla, Vsetín — Škoda Felicia, 1960. I’m glad I found your store. I have a Felicia from 1959, bought twenty years ago already restored – not exactly to my taste, but I put it in good technical shape. The bodywork isn’t perfectly done, so I’m curious how the trims will fit.
Jarmil Wirth, Rudník — Škoda Felicia. Purchased on September 13, 2008, in Prague after an alleged earlier reconstruction. It was non-operational with faulty brakes and was transported on a trailer. After sandblasting the body, I realized it would be a long-term project. Gradually, I restored the chassis, engine, gearbox, body, and interior. After four years of work (until 2012), the car was completed and successfully passed the technical inspection. We participate in vintage car events. Thank you for your cooperation – your company also has credit for saving this beautiful car.
Dušan Kotrla, Vsetín — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Re-sent story about buying and restoring the 1959 Felicia.
Josef Vrtal, Uherské Hradiště — Škoda Felicia. Attached are photos of my work – so far only the frame.
Zdeněk Malošík, Míškovice — Škoda Felicia, 1959. The car isn’t mine; I’m just repairing it. Photos were taken during the repair; I’ll send new ones when finished. — Malošík Z.
Jiří Houček, Spělov — Škoda Felicia. As requested, sending photos (taken by phone) showing how the ordered parts will be used.
František Stajanča, Prešov, Slovakia — Škoda 450 Roadster. Sending a photo of my Škoda 450 Roadster, still a few details to fine-tune.
Ladislav Benö, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia, 1960. I’ve owned it since 1994, I am the eighth owner, and I am now restoring it to its original condition.
Pavel Svoboda — Škoda Felicia. Sending a few photos showing how I bought the Felicia torso in boxes. Thanks for helping find the missing parts.
Filip Hlaváček, Chomutov — Škoda Felicia Super, 1964. Model with a 1221 cm³ engine and two Jikov carburetors. The first owner was my grandmother, who never drove it herself. The car served the whole family, went on holidays to Bulgaria and Hungary, and never let us down. In 1996, my grandparents transferred ownership to my mother, who also didn’t drive it. The car stood in a garage under a blanket until I became interested in it in 2017. After several hundred hours of work, I found that most of the parts were in good condition. The interior was perfect, the engine ran smoothly. It only needed cleaning and replacing of “consumable” parts. Within half a year, it was finished and the Felicia took my wife and me to our wedding. The paint is original, though my grandfather repainted some spots with a brush. The odometer shows 76,000 km. It belongs to one of the last produced units (still to be confirmed). I’d like to request certification from Škoda. The biggest experience was re-registering the car — technical inspection passed easily, EKO fee paid, but the license plates disappeared from deposit, probably destroyed by mistake. I’m attaching a few photos and thank you for your cooperation. — Filip Hlaváček.
Vojtěch Kartous, Tišnov — Škoda Felicia. Sending a few photos from the progress of my Felicia restoration. ?
František Frühwirt, Rouchovany — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Sending ongoing photos of the 1960 Felicia restoration.
Vladimír Oharek, Otrokovice — Škoda Felicia. Sending photos from the Ecce Homo Šternberk event – veterans, where my Felicia was presented.
Pavel Schwarzer, Boskovice — Škoda Felicia, 1962. Škoda Felicia 1089 from 1962, restoration completed in 2005.
Tamas Raab, Kanata, Ontario, Canada — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Here are a few photos of my 1960 Skoda Felicia in Canada.
Karel Malý, Olomouc — Škoda 445, 1959. The car belonged to my parents, it was our family car. Now it’s completely disassembled. It’s a 1959 Škoda 445 – sixty years old this year.
Jan Vávra, Rychnov nad Kněžnou — Škoda Felicia. The car is in the final stages of finishing. I’ll send photos when it’s done. I say by Christmas, but not which one. :-) For now, just a photo of the roof I’m making myself – still without the top trim. Thank you and regards — Vávra.
Jan Janíček, Hubálov — Škoda Felicia. This beauty has been on our roads since July 6, 1962. I don’t know much about its history; it’s been under my care since June 2018. It reportedly underwent restoration in 2000, but the work wasn’t done well. Never mind – I’ll give it the care it deserves so it can keep driving and stay in good condition.
Robert Bonsma, Leeuwarden, Netherlands — Škoda Felicia, 1960. Sending a photo of our 1960 Felicia cabriolet. After two years of restoration, it is almost ready. Photo from June 2021, at my brothers’ wedding.
Kateřina Hančová, Prague — Škoda Felicia. Ever since we tore down the garage doors and moved our “Felda,” we’ve been oscillating between excitement and despair. My husband says I have an emotional bond with the car (my dad bought it when I was a month old, and we drove it until I was sixteen). It was yellow, full of adventures — parts would fall off, other cars honked, and other Felicia owners waved. We drove as far as the Harz Mountains in the former East Germany, where children ran after us shouting. My dad often started it with a crank; we drove on “fumes,” and sometimes my mom and I had to push it. It was a beautiful childhood. I’m sending a few photos from the past and the present, showing the car disassembled and waiting for repair.
Continuation — Current condition. Boxes of parts and spares collected by my father not shown — they take up half the garage.
Continuation — I’m the one in the middle, and I really didn’t like that photo session back then, I still remember it. ?
Michal Szöke, Handlová, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia. More photos available at www.otac.sk. Regards — Michal Szöke, Oldtimer Autoclub Slovakia.
Ján Žitniak, Dudince, Slovakia — Škoda Felicia, 1963. I’m restoring a 1963 Felicia, bought it in Hungary; it came from Romania where some tuning was done.
